This is an introductory course designed to familiarize students with managerial aspects of information technology in business organizations. The course provides a balance between technical and managerial aspects of information systems. Technical topics include hardware, software, databases, telecommunications and the Internet. Managerial aspects include Electronic Commerce, using IT for competitive advantage, knowledge management, decision support systems, and business process redesign. Prerequisite: BMGT 5840 or consent of instructor.
